The Galette des Rois, also known as King Cake, is a puff pastry pie filled with frangipane (a sweet filling made with ground almonds). A figurine, called 'fève' is hidden inside the pie and whoever finds it in their slice is crowned king or queen for the night. Traditionally served in French households on the first Sunday of January. Best eaten warm.
